Update: I created 3 more looks inspired by the Sanderson Sisters in Hocus Pocus 2 using the 2022 ColourPop collection inspired by the movie. You can see those looks and read the new blog here.
When I first saw Colourpop’s new 2021 Hocus Pocus makeup collection, I was obsessed. Oddly enough, cosmetic brands still don’t put out many Halloween inspired collections, so I was so excited about this. I definitely bought several of the items and made it a personal challenge to myself to come up with as many spooky looks as I could this Halloween season.
Naturally, I also HAD to come up with a series of looks inspired by each of the Sanderson sisters using the Witching Hour palette. It was literally designed for this kind of challenge!
Each sister has her own unique color palette, personality, and style so I really wanted to lean into each of those elements when creating a look for each witch.
Sarah Sanderson
I played with Sarah’s color palette of pinks and purples with a bit of orange, while also creating a smokey eye shape similar to the look she has herself. With the added red lip like hers and these super dramatic lashes, “boys will love me!”
Products used:
Colourpop Witching Hour palette (Moon is Round, Hello, Billy, Under the Ground)
KVD Anti Precision Eye Pencil (no longer sold)
KVD Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Nahz Fur Atoo (no longer sold)
Mary Sanderson
Mary has a pretty monochromatic color scheme of reds and oranges so I went with this blown out look with a hint of shimmer for added dimension. I also went with a red lip like hers. Smell that? “I smell children!”
Products used:
Colourpop Witching Hour palette (All Hallow’s Eve, Moon is Round, Life Potion, Bubble Bubble)
KVD Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Nahz Fur Atoo (no longer sold)
Winifred Sanderson
Finally for our boss witch Winnie, I wanted to create a dramatic look that reflected her regal robes and larger than life personality. What do you think, does this look put a spell on you?
Products used:
Colourpop Witching Hour palette (Fur Black as Black, Twist the Bones, Bubble Bubble, 300 Years)
I absolutely love creating makeup looks inspired by fictional characters and stories, so this challenge was so much fun and really put me in the Halloween spirit! If you enjoyed this and want to see more fandom inspired looks, check out my Instagram or read my previous blog post 4 looks inspired by The Mandalorian. If you can’t get enough Sanderson Sister makeup, take a look at the other 3 looks I created inspired by Hocus Pocus 2.
Let me know in the comments if there are other geeky makeup collections you want me to try or fandoms you want me to create looks for!
