Closet cosplay is an excellent way for fans to bust out some pieces they find in their closet and/or local thrift shops to totally embody their favorite characters from media. Also known as "geek chic" and "bounding," the central idea is to take pieces that are easily accessible or already in your closet and make it into something more.

The idea of closet cosplay is to find whatever you already have in your wardrobe, or what you can thrift or find cheaply in stores and online, and put an outfit together based on a character. Unlike actual cosplay, closet cosplay doesn't need to be an exact replica of what the character wears. It can be based on the color schemes, the general aesthetic vibe the character portrays, or a mock representation of the character's exact outfit.
