Hocus Pocus 2 makeup looks inspired by the Sanderson Sisters

I have to confess, I’m absolutely a basic Halloween girlie and love all things Hocus Pocus. Even though I didn’t watch the movie until I was an adult, I still immediately fell in love with the film and I definitely think it’s the perfect Halloween movie.

This spooky season has been extra special because not only did we get a sequel — Hocus Pocus 2, which released on Disney+ on September 30, 2022 — but also ColourPop released yet another (and also honestly their best) Hocus Pocus makeup collection inspired by the sequel.

You may remember that last year I purchased ColourPop’s 2021 Witching Hour palette and used it to create 3 looks inspired by each of the Sanderson Sisters. I had so much fun playing with that palette and creating those looks that I wanted to do it again this year with the new All Hallow’s Eve palette from the Hocus Pocus 2 collection.

Even though it’s been 29 years since we last saw them, each Sanderson Sister still has her own unique color palette, personality, and iconic sense of style. I again wanted to lean into each of those elements when creating a makeup look for each witch.

I hope I look even half this good if I ever die and am brought back to life (again) with a magic black flame candle tbh. Image credit Disney.

Sarah Sanderson

I love Sarah’s dramatic eyeshadow and eyebrows, and I’m so glad they kept that look for her return in the sequel. I wanted to play with a cut crease and dramatic siren eye to replicate the look.

Products used:

• Colourpop All Hallow’s Eve palette

  • Used the shade Observe in the crease, blended out with Witch Hunters and Havoc

  • Created a cut crease with concealer, set it, and used the shade 17th Century on top of that for some sparkle

• Stila liquid eyeliner

• Bésame Cosmetics Red Velvet lipstick

• Makeup by Mario Soft Pop Blush Stick in Dusty Rose

Mary Sanderson

Mary has a warm, earthy look with reds and oranges, and as the alchemist of the group her aesthetic is very down to earth and cozy. I created an autumnal and more natural look for her.

  • Used the shade Doomed all over, blended out with Spell Book

  • Cometh To Us on lid with 29 Years on top of that for shimmer

• KVD Beauty Lash Primer

• KVD Beauty Go Big or Go Home mascara

• Bésame Cosmetics Masterliner Universal Red Pencil

• Bésame Cosmetics Red Velvet lipstick

• KVD Everlasting Blush in Honeysuckle

Winifred Sanderson

The All Hallow’s Eve palette has some absolutely beautiful greens (which were sorely lacking from last year’s palette) so I took the opportunity to create a big and bold emerald green look inspired by our favorite boss witch Winnie.

Products used:

• Colourpop All Hallow’s Eve palette

  • Used Cursed all over, blended with Spell Book in crease, Night of Sins in outer corner

  • Brew Another Batch was used on the lid with Candle is Alight over it for an extra pop of sparkle.

  • Wicked Ways was used on the lower lash line

• Colourpop Boss Witch lashes

• Makeup Revolution X Soph lip kit in Toffee Drizzle

• KVD Everlasting Blush in Foxglove

I also used ColourPop’s Find the Book shimmering body powder as highlighter on my cheeks and brow bone for all these looks. I’m so bummed it didn’t show up at all in the pictures because the sparkle is absolutely stunning. Hopefully this gif can at least give you some idea of how pretty it is.

I love playing with makeup and especially creating looks inspired by my favorite fictional characters and stories. It makes me so happy that fandom inspired palettes are becoming more common! I think this All Hallow’s Eve palette is one of my all-time favorites, every single look I’ve created with it has turned out amazing. I’m definitely going to be using this every day this Halloween season, and probably into the winter too honestly.
